Q. What are the benefits of Mineral Fusion mineral makeup over traditional makeup?
A. Mineral Fusion is comprised of micronized minerals, and essentially sits on the surface (versus absorbing into the skin). It will not clog pores, is non-comedogenic, comprised of pharmaceutical-grade formulas, free of parabens, chemical dyes and perfumes, and created with natural preservatives — healthy and effective for all skin types.

Minerals often used in mineral makeup include micronized titanium dioxide (acts as a natural sunscreen), iron oxide (provides color to the makeup), and zinc oxide (natural sunscreen and calming to the skin). Incorporating pharmaceutical treatment, clinically superior antioxidants and a radiant color palette, it provides flawless coverage and healthy skin, appealing to women of all tastes and styles.
Q. Is it true that mineral makeup contains a natural sunblock?
A. Mineral makeup provides natural, broad-spectrum UV protection from nature's elements (without skin irritation). Our planet is slowly evolving into a "green" lifestyle; artificial chemicals and preservatives are considered to be toxic. Earth-based minerals are a superb alternative to chemical-laden cosmetics. Mineral Fusion contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, known to provide UVA and UVB protection.

In many traditional makeup formulations, talc is the number one filler ingredient — the longer it remains on the skin, fine lines will become more visible. Mineral Fusion does not contain talc and basically rests on the surface of the skin, allowing it to breathe and function normally. Mineral Fusion's pressed based powders allow for an easy, mess-free application, virtually eliminating the hazard of inhaling floating loose powder particles into the lungs.

Q. How are minerals “purified?”
A. All minerals are a natural formation of the earth. For cosmetics, the main distinction is based on the refining process. Mineral Fusion uses an Italian triple mill method — if minerals were any finer, they would produce “nano-particles,” which can clog pores (instead of remaining on the skin’s surface).
Q. Are all ingredients accurately listed?
A. Even if an ingredient only contains 0.001%, it will be acknowledged. Mineral Fusion’s formulas include top quality pharmaceutical-grade, high-pigment minerals and powerful antioxidants.

Q. Is there a particular way to apply mineral makeup?
A. The application of mineral makeup is different than traditional makeup. Since there is no talc, use smaller amounts to distinguish if additional product is needed. By using the proper brush, you can alter the coverage, (e.g., the longer the brush hair, the more coverage will be achieved). A blender brush provides sheer to medium, while a flawless brush furnishes medium to full treatment. Customize your needs by lightly building layers.
Q. Do the powder bases tend to dry?
A. As many as 90% of traditional cosmetics contain a high percentage of talc – making the skin appear “parched.” Mineral Fusion cosmetics are 100% talc-free and provide moisture-balancing benefits.

Q. Is Mineral Fusion effective on older, aging skin?
A. Because it is light-reflective, it diminishes fine lines and wrinkles while giving a healthy glow. Matte makeup absorbs light and allows the eye to see “into” the skin. Before and after applying your base, use the Hydration Mist to set makeup, while softening fine lines and furnishing a dewy look.
Q. Can Mineral Fusion be used while undergoing skin treatments?
A. It can be applied immediately after a micro-dermabrasion or a light peel. It will not only cover the redness, but the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide (known anti-inflammatory agents), will aid in calming the skin. After laser resurfacing, your physician should advise how many days to wait before applying makeup. It is essential for healing skin to be protected from the sun and the minerals provide coverage and soothing properties.

Q. Is Mineral Fusion safe for sensitive skin?
A. Anyone can be allergic or sensitive. However, Mineral Fusion does not contain the top three sensitizers; fragrance, FD&C dyes and synthetic preservatives. Individuals with excessive chemical sensitivities or rosacea can successfully wear this makeup.
Q. Can it be applied on acne-prone skin?
A. It is entirely non-comedogenic and allows skin to breathe and function normally. It easily covers redness (common from breakouts) without clogging pores. Minerals such as zinc oxide can be healing to an acne condition. Think of it as “concealing and healing.”

Q. I am an oncology patient. Can I use Mineral Fusion during treatment?
A. Absolutely. Since they are paraben and chemical-free, their unique protective and healing properties are beneficial for oncology patients as well as people who experience hypersensitive skin problems such as rosacea, melasma, and acne. Some of its therapeutic ingredients shield the skin from dehydration and oxidation, while soothing and healing.  Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide prevents sun damage and inflammation and Vitamins A and E condition and protect.
Q. I am taking prescribed medications. Can I still use Mineral Fusion?
A. All ingredients are completely safe, as it lays on the surface of the skin. If you are using a prescribed topical medication, consult your physician first.

Q. I am pregnant/nursing. Can I still use Mineral Fusion?
A. If you are pregnant or nursing, we always recommend consulting your doctor regarding the introduction of any new product.
Q. Do any of your products contain fragrance?
A. All products are 100% fragrance-free.

Q: Does your makeup colors and shades look exactly like they do on your website?
A: Our photographers make every effort to provide an accurate representation of our shades and colors. Colors illustrated on a website can never be identical to the shade and hue of the actual makeup. This is due to both lighting and color variances on computer displays.
Q. What does “surface tone” mean?
A. Varying color on the surface of the skin includes redness, freckles, acne, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, etc.

Q. What does “undertone” mean?
A. Based on a person’s ethnicity, tones vary from light to dark. Your undertone is your skin's natural shade and never changes (e.g., if you have a golden undertone, you will be golden for life).
Q. How do I know what my undertone is?
A. Minerals harmonize with various women’s undertones, making mineral makeup very forgiving. Unlike traditional cosmetics, where unsightly dark lines at the jaw and hairlines are visible, mineral makeup blends flawlessly— one shade can work for several different skin tones.

To determine your undertone, look at the inside of your forearm. A good indicator will be identified as yellow, green, peach or pink. You can also hold your arm next to white paper. If your arm appears to be pink, most likely your undertone is pink/peach. If it is yellow/green, it is apt to be golden/yellow/olive/deep.

Other shade matching considerations:
Your neck is considered a “truer” color — determine a shade that seamlessly blends your face and neck.
If you have been tanning, move to a darker foundation or add a little bronzer to create extra warmth to the skin.

Light -- peach illuminates your complexion or
pinkish-red brightens through your skin.
Nicole Kidman or Cate Blanchett
Medium -- a natural golden glow.
Jessica Simpson or Cameron Diaz

Deep -- deep, warm tone.
Oprah Winfrey or Angela Bassett
Tan -- yellow/olive skin tone.
Halle Berry or Tyra Banks
